Day 9 - Newborough to Aberffraw

What a fabulous day for sunshine, sea and sand!!


Lots of sand dunes and very fine sand for most of Newborough beach - reminded me of childhood visits to beaches at Prestatyn and Flint


Even the paths around the forest perimeter were sandy


and Glenise loved every minute as this was a day she could roam safely off the lead (and dip into muddy puddles 😄🐶)


not a good place for nearly losing a dog lead - oops!  thanks for finding it, Alan👌 


endless sand dunes and miles of sandy beach, only the sky changed its shade of blue


now this was brave/crazy........the sea temperature certainly wasn't that great 🥶, we're still in April!

Sunday afternoon, fabulous weather and still no beach crowds


even a panorama shot doesn't do justice to the vast expanse of beach all around the perimeter of Newborough forest where the coastal route leads! A favourite day for Glenise and all dogs, simply no competition 👌🐶 WOOF!! WOOF!!

Day 13 FINAL DAY - Trearddur Bay to Holyhead So today we set off, once again in unbelievably fine weather, to walk the final leg (no pun intended!) of our challenge.  I had only vague memories of visiting Trearddur and South Stack lighthouse in the late 1960's when we stayed in a caravan in Benllech, but I hadn't remembered how pretty and interesting the coastal area is as you leave Trearddur Bay.             Well, apart that is from the dark eerie big house perched on the cliffs to the left - is it the  spooky  home of the Addams Family?? Day 12 - Four Mile Bridge to Trearddur Bay https://www.justgiving.com/page/gill-bruce-1712272574056 Today, the penultimate day, Sue and I met up with Colette, local GD fundraiser and boarder at Four Mile Bridge and what a difference her local knowledge meant to our progress!!  7 miles completed, despite a minor detour, in time for tea at 3 at the Sea Shanty in Trearddur 👏 What a difference a day makes in Anglesey - a beautiful start to the day after such wild weather Monday and Tuesday! Another chapel ⛪⛪- we've seen quite a number during the last fortnight 😃 We'd strayed off the official path onto a lane, but so tranquil and lovely views - quietness punctuated now and again by the roar of jets ✈ ✈ or a helicopter out on a mission from RAF Valley Lots going on at the pop up restaurant at Rhoscolyn Chapel! Glenise wasn't with us till after lunch today, but we had the chance to get a doggy fix with 2 local ladies out on their daily stroll with their canine companions 🐕🐕 C...

  Day 3 - Cemaes to Amlych   Cemaes harbour Just added in the final post at the end of the blog some amusing videos........ A challenging day 3 as the majority of this stretch hugged the north coast cliffs - up and down like a yoyo at a snail like pace but made more hairy where the coastal path had shifted/eroded - both Sue and I were suffering PTSD as a result 😨😱!!!! Glenise was wisely left with Alan 🐶 Spectacular views, but the photos speak for themselves.  Exhausted even if it was barely 8 miles today 😴   some steps just have to be bottom-shuffled........... hanging on as the path narrows and the wind increases......     Stopped for lunch at the old now derelict pottery works and met a group of really interesting kayakers on a training mission with students undergoing assessment view of the kayaks as we scaled the cliffs - too high for my liking 😰💦   Scaling near vertical cliff steps on your knees is no mean feat - star of the day goes to...
